Roots run deep on ’Candid’, the first LP by Munich-based producer Polygonia and drummer Simon Popp. The record is a perfect blend of their distinct voices, with Popp’s drumset and his signature percussion sounds buzzing around Polygonia’s bold and blooming productions.
Comprised of live material recorded at Munich’s ZIRKA in late 2022 and over several studio sessions in-between touring duties, ‘Candid’ is a meadow of herbal Electronic, mystic at times, but joyful nonetheless.

Polygonia
Due to her family consisting of professional musicians, Lindsey Wang had early and intensive exposure to music. She started playing the violin at the age of seven and shortly thereafter began taking piano lessons. She completed her high school diploma with an additional focus on the violin. Furthermore, she participated in the Jeunesse Orchester Camp in Austria for seven years. Throughout her career, she explored various instruments, including singing, saxophone, guitar, and flute, until she was eventually drawn to electronic music production. Under her pseudonym ‚Polygonia,‘ she performs ambient, downtempo, and deep techno on international stages, including venues such as Berghain (Berlin), Tresor (Berlin), Garage Noord (Amsterdam), and Monument Festival (Oslo).

Popp
Exploration and play are at the core of Simon Popp’s creative process. Classically trained in jazz drumming and polyrhythm, the Bavarian-born artist draws from a vast array of percussive instruments to build his expansive sound palette. Learning the drums and listening to a wide range of genres from a young age instilled in him a ravenous musical curiosity that resonates throughout his various projects.
Closely affiliated with Munich-based label Squama, who revolve around the axis of contemporary jazz, minimal and ambient influences, Popp’s extensive output through Fazer, 9ms, Enji & Popp and Runden showcase his passion for collaborating across a variety of avant-garde and popular music. His latest album ‚Blizz‘ sees Popp delve deeper into this interplay between electronic and organic percussive sounds to new and delightful results.
